Sony’s “Next Generation Portable” Unveiled

At Playstation Meeting 2011 in Japan, Sony revealed their next handheld gaming platform. The non-finally named “Next Generation Portable” is said to be as powerful as the PS3 and has all the stuff we have been hearing about: A touch screen, a touch sensitive back, two built in cameras, tilt controls, and a second analog stick. About goddamn time.

Already a bunch of series have been confirmed to appear on the NGP like Call of Duty, Uncharted, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance, Metal Gear and something from Epic Games.

For all the tech nerds out there, here are the specs:

CPU: ARM® Cortex™-A9 core (4 core)

GPU: SGX543MP4+

While no North American release date was announced, the Next Generation Portable should be hitting Japanese shelves this holiday.
