Jackie Earle Haley and Jay Baruchel Join Robocop

Lots of actors I like have been joining the cast of the upcoming Robocop remake. Aside from the main guy Joel Kinnaman, who I have never seen before, we have Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Laurie. Now we can add to more people to the list of actors I like who will be in the movie. Well, one and a half.

Last week it was announced that Jackie Earle Haley would be joining the cast of Robocop. He will be playing Maddox, the man who gives Robocop his military training. Though Robocop’s mostly robot, so they could just program the military training into him. And who needs military training when bullets bounce off you… You know, because you’re a robot.

Anyway, a few days later it was also announced that Jay Baruchel is also joining the movie. He will be playing the head of marketing for Omnicorp, the company that made Robocop in the first place.

I like Jackie Earle Haley. He was good in Watchmen and the only saving grace in the awful Nightmare on Elm Street remake. But his role in the movie does seem kind of pointless when you remember it’s about a robot. Jay Baruchel can be funny but he does come across a lot of the time as annoying. I guess we’ll just have to see how they do when the movie comes out.
