Crunchyroll Adds Three New Series

During their panel at Otakon today, Crunchyroll announced that they will be adding three new series to their line-up: The original Moyashimon series, Angel Beats! and the second season of the Hell Girl series Two Mirrors.

Moyashimon is about Tadayasu Souemon Sawaki, a student at an agricultural university in Tokyo. He has the ability to see and communicate with germs and other microorganisms. The manga is apparently still going on and a second season of the show, Moyashimon Returns, started earlier this month. Crunchyroll currently has Moyashimon Returns as part of their line-up. Moyashimon ran for 11 episodes.

Angel Beats! is a series I’ve actually seen. It follows Otonashi, a kid who has lost his memories, as he wakes up at a school. He learns that he is actually dead and the school is a limbo type place where students learn to give up their attachments to life before passing on to the other side. While their, Otonashi meets a girl named Yuri and joins the Afterlife Battlefront, also known as the SSS. The group is determined to fight against God for the horrible things that happened to them in life as well as against Angel, a young girl with powers who tries to stop SSS. This series has one of the most heart-wrenching I’ve seen, and you should definitely check it out. Angel Beats! ran for 13 episodes

I don’t know that much about the Hell Girl series. From what I’ve read it’s kind of an anthology series, with each episode focusing on a different person. But each story is about that person using a website to summon a Hell Girl to condemn someone to hell for all eternity. The price for condemning someone? Your own soul goes to Hell when you die. Sounds interesting enough. The second season of the series, Hell Girl: Two Mirrors, ran for 26 episodes.

No word on when these series will be streamed, yet. Crunchyroll said they will be giving streaming dates for various countries later.
