Team Fortress 2: Mann vs Machine [UPDATE: Yeah, It’s Official Now]

For years, Valve’s had us fighting against one another as the BLUs, and the REDs. But is it now time for us to put aside our differences and kill the machine?

Through updates, Valve has hidden clues to something much deeper in the Team Fortress 2 universe than what it had originally been. Hints to a 3rd faction have been showing up all over TF2 in the last 2 years, including an image of a robotic head of each of the classes.  Maps have also been hinting as this idea with hidden rooms tucked away outside the map and within their files. A room with nothing but a map, photos of what appear to be the robotic TF2 classes in action and an entire long room filled with film reels. Items within the game, such as the Barey-Melted Capacitor, crafting blueprints and links hidden on the site itself, all lead to this; The 3rd Mann Child, Gray.

His recent reveal is just the start as he murders his 2 brothers. And with only Gray remaining, both the BLU and RED companies at his disposal, he has everything he needs to move foward. The question is…what’re we moving towards? The only thing we can say, is it’ll soon be us vs them, BLU and RED vs Gray, and Mann vs Machine.

UPDATE by DeadMan:

That’s right, Valve has officially announced the new Mann vs. Machine mode for Team Fortress 2.

Gray Mann, the lost third son of Zepheniah Mann, has returned with an indestructible robot army. Their only goal is the destruction of everything Mann Co., and they have the means to do it. All of the robots are equipped with giant bombs that they have to drop at Mann Co. strongholds to accomplish their goals. Luckily for the teams the robots are only equipped with only basic level weaponry, so they shouldn’t be that hard to stop. Unluckily for the teams, there are also special robots designed to stop you from stopping them.

Mann vs. Machine will have support for up to five players for wave after wave of robot invasion. Between each wave, players will have a chance to upgrade their weapons and abilities and after players complete all the waves they will earn some great loot.

Mann vs. Machine will be available on August 15th.
