Do Mass Effect Fans want a Prequel? BioWare Asks
Last week it was announced that BioWare Montreal are working on the next installment in the Mass Effect series. I was assuming this new game would be a continuation of the universe after the events of Mass Effect 3. Granted I don’t know the ending of the game but it makes sense to me to continue on in a universe where Shepard had an impact and you are a character living in that impacted world. BioWare, on the other hand, is considering doing a sequel or a prequel, and they’re asking the fans what they want.
Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the new game, tweeted the following yesterday:
Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?

Looking over the responses, it seems like some people don’t think there could be a story after the end of ME3. As I said above, they could do a story after ME3. But personally, I would like to see a prequel where you play as Anderson. There is so much back story for him already and it would be great to see a world where humans aren’t as widespread through the galaxy. Plus it would be cool to see some of the conflicts that happened before Shepard one upped the entirety of existence.
