Toronto Film Critics to Offer Canada’s Richest Film Prize

Canadian cable and mobile company Rogers Communications has increased the Toronto Film Critics Association’s Canadian film award from $15,000 to $100,000 making the Canadian film prize the richest one in the country. The two runners-up will each be receiving $5000.

Phil Lind, vice chairman of Rogers said, “Canadian film is competing on the world stage and with this extraordinary prize we hope to inspire this community to reach even higher.”

The 16th annual awards, which honors films, directors, writers and actors in the main Oscar categories, is set to take place in Toronto on Jan. 8, 2013.
