Clerks III will be Kevin Smith’s Last Film
With the recent announcement of the new Jay and Silent Bob movie, it looks like the View Askewniverse is coming back. But with this most recent piece of news, it could be ending just as soon as it returned.
See, Kevin Smith was working on a film for quite some time called Hit Somebody. It was meant to be his magnum opus and what he was going to close his career out on. Then the movie got split into two parts. Then it got turned into a TV miniseries. Obviously not wanting his last work as a writer and director to be a miniseries, Smith tweeted this:
So with the HIT SOMEBODY shift, the minute Jeff Anderson signs on, my last cinematic effort as a writer/director will be CLERKS III. #TaDa

Jeff Anderson is best known for playing Randal Graves, a smart-ass slacker and owner of RST Video. His last appearance as the character was in Clerks II, which came out six years ago.
Speaking as a fan of the Clerks movies, while it would be great to see another, I don’t really know where they could go from the end of Clerks II. That was kind of the end of Dante and Randal’s arc. The two lost what they had known for years, Dante tried to move on with his life while Randal kept trying to pull him back, and then they both reclaimed what they had lost and made it their own. It was a great ending, and I have know idea what’s coming next.
