The Lone Ranger Loses One Composer For Another

A startling change up behind-the-scenes on Gore Verbinski’s Lone Ranger reboot.

Back in April it was announced that alt-rocker Jack White had signed on to pen the score to The Lone Ranger, but it has appeared that due to scheduling issues, White had to leave the project. His replacement is that of the amazing Hans Zimmer, who Verbinski collaborated with on the very successful Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Disney explained in a statement that White “has contributed several pieces of music to the production,” but became logistically unavailable when the film’s release date was pushed from May to July. While White was a very interesting and risky choice, Zimmer is among the best in the business so I don’t see this as either a plus nor a minus in Verbinski’s Lone Ranger.

The Lone Ranger will be hitting theatres July 3, 2013.
