Paul Giamatti to Play The Rhino in Amazing Spider-Man 2

Jesus Christ, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 just keeps adding more and more people to its cast list. First we got Shailene Woodley, then Jamie Foxx, then Dane DeHaan, and now we got two more people: Paul Giamatti and Felicity Jones.

THR is reporting that Giamatti is currently in talks with Sony Pictures to join the sequel as The Rhino… Okay, then. Rhino has been a part of the Spider-Man comics for over 40 years. Well, he was until he died in Ends of the Earth along with Silver Sable.

Apparently, this is a dream role for Giamatti because Rhino was one of his favorite characters as a kid. He said in an interview back in 2011:

I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit, and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies.’ But maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me. … If they ever go with The Rhino, I would be ready and waiting.

Felicity Jones is also reported to be in negotiations for a role in the film. What role might that be? Don’t know. The part Jones is in talks for has not been announced yet. But, if Wikipedia is to be believed, some rumors are going around that it could be either Betty Brant or Felicia Hardy.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on May 2nd, 2014.
