Rob Letterman to Director Goosebumps Movie

I don’t really read books anymore, but when I did I loved the Goosebumps books. They were really creative and one of my first introductions to anything horror related, even if they weren’t all that scary. They were some of my favorite books of all time, and now were getting a movie out of them. Probably. Possibly. Hopefully.

Deadline is reporting that Sony is in talks with director Rob Letterman to direct a film based on the book series. Letterman is best known for directing the movies Gulliver’s Travels, Shark Tale, and Monsters vs. Aliens. The last film is the only one that really seems to qualify him to take on a movie with horror-themed elements but aiming to be more kid friendly.

At this point we don’t know what the movie will be. Will it be based on one story? Multiple stories rolled into one? Something completely original? My hope is that they will go straight anthology with this, giving the movie a framing device then having multiple stories told back to back. We don’t see enough of those anymore.
