Zoe Saldana in Talks to Play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy

The more we hear about James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, I get less and less excited, especially with casting news. First, we got Chris Platt as Star-Lord, leader of the Guardians. Then we got wrestler Bautista as Drax, the green-skinned super-zombie. Now we have another green-skinned character thrown into things who may be played by an actress who’s okay, I guess.

THR is reporting that Zoe Saldana of Avatar and Star Trek fame is in talks with Marvel Studios to play Gamora, the Deadliest Woman in the Universe. For those who don’t know, Gamora is the adopted daughter of Thanos, the villain of the film, who was augmented and given special training to become an assassin. She eventually learned of Thanos’ true nature and vowed to stop him.

Like I said, Saldana is an okay actress to me. She was fine in Star Trek and Avatar, but I’ve never thought that she was all that great. She’s just okay.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for release on August 1st, 2014.
