DC Announces New Creative Team for Aquaman #20
One thing in comics I’ve always been a bit curious about is single issues with different creative teams. After some big story arc or something, the main creative takes a week or a month off and let some new people write and draw story. I’m not against them or anything, but what is the purpose of it? Is the main team actually just taking a break or is there something else going on? Anyway, Aquaman’s getting one of these.
Aquaman and Justice League writer Geoff Johns announced on Twitter that issue 20 of his fishy series will have a different writer and artist.
May's AQUAMAN #20 features the return of The Others in a story written by the great John Ostrander — Paul and I will be back for issue #21!

For those who don’t know, Ostrander is a writer who has been in the business for about 20 years, most known for his work on Dark Horse’s Star Wars: Legacy, IDW’s Grimjack (he co-created the character with artist Timothy Truman), and DC’s Suicide Squad as well as some of their other characters. Personally I’m not really familiar with his work but I’ve heard good things.
With Ostrander writing, art duties for the issue will be handled by Manuel Garcia (Bloodshot) and Sandra Hope (Gen13).
The story focuses on the Others, the team Aquaman ran with before the Justice League, as they go to recruit a new member in order to find some thing in the Southwest. Presumably the American Southwest but who really knows.
Aquaman #20 coming on May 22nd.
