Batman: Arkham Origins Announces Batman and Joker Voices

It’s no secret on this site that we love Mark Hamill as the Joker. Anyone to disagree with us leaves eventually, so it’s pretty much a prerequisite for employment (note to self, add that to interview questions). So, with the cast changing for Batman: Arkham Origins,we’ve been curious to know who will be filling these gigantic shoes. Well, Warner Brothers didn’t make us wait too long, and have released the new casting choices for Batman and The Joker.

Batman will be played by Roger Craig Smith. Smith has a very well known voice for being Ezio Auditore in the Assassin’s Creed series. While his voice doesn’t scream dark, intimidating Batman like Kevin Conroy, the fact that this story is from the early days of Batman helps enormously. I could see him playing a young, inexperienced Batman very well. (Ezio is basically a young, inexperienced Batman who murders.)

The Joker will now be played by Troy Baker. His voice isn’t as easily placed for some. He’s played roles like Snow From Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy 13-2 (optional title addition: We Really Don’t Want To Re-Make 7) and Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3 (I’m working on finishing the series, I’ll get there eventually). I can’t comment as much on this choice as I’m not as familiar with his previous work, but Kaz assures me he’ll be alright for the role.

Seeing the cast for these characters gives some idea of how they will be portrayed, and what type of story the game will be going for. Hopefully these actors don’t let us down horribly.
