James Robinson Leaving DC Comics

James Robinson has been writing comics for almost 25 years now, and a good chunk of that time he’s spent with DC. On top of his work with the publisher’s big names like Batman and Superman, Robinson is best known for reviving the Justice Society and creating Jack Knight, also known as the hero Starman. So it’s a shame when someone who has been working with a company for so long and put out some great work with them says they’re leaving.

Last week Robinson, who is currently writing Earth 2, tweeted the following…

Earth 2 is a really good book. It’s been one of my favorites of the Second Wave and the big reason for that was Robinson’s writing. The new spins he gave on the classic characters have all been really cool and he’s come up with some pretty great stories.

No reason has been given for his departure. No replacement writer for Earth 2 has been announced, either. But since the book is a big seller for DC, I’m guessing that we’ll be hearing who the new writer is soon. And then those sales numbers on the book will probably plummet since it won’t be Robinson anymore.

Earth 2 issue 16 is set for release this September.
