Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul Leave The Flash

When the New 52 hit, I had just gotten into The Flash, both as a book and a character. I really liked him, and was a bit worried going in to the new book. Thank Popo that DC had chosen Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul to write the book, though, because they’ve been doing a really great job. But because it’s the latest trend, I guess, they’ve decided to move on.

Last week Buccellato posted an entry on his blog entitled “MOVING FORWARD.” In it, he said this…

If you’ve seen the solicits for FLASH #26, you may notice that Francis and I are not listed as the creators… That’s because (as strange as it sounds to even us) we’ve reached the end of our Flash run. #25 is the final chapter in what’s been an incredible journey with the fastest man alive. Fun times!

We were REALLY honored to have the opportunity to usher Barry, Iris, Patty, Lenny, Forrest and the entire Flash universe into the New 52. We’ve lived and breathed Barry and are sorely gonna miss him, but after 3 years and over 30 issues (annuals, zero, Villains Month), we felt it was time to Move Forward and take on a new creative challenge.

While I do find it strange that “Move Forward” was written the way it was, I’m guessing it may have something to do with the fact that they’re working on a new book for DC. They can’t really tell us anything about it yet, except that it is going to be an ongoing series and will be launching March 2014.

It’s sad to see these guys go, and while Flash won’t be the same without them, I can’t wait to see what these guys are working on next.

Flash issue 25 goes on sale November 27th.
