Whole Bunch of Persona Shit

This week, Famitsu dropped a some pretty awesome news in regards to the Persona series. Some of it is pretty fucking awesome and some of it is kinda weird.

For starters, Persona 4 is getting a remake for the PS Vita. Called Persona 4 The Golden, the new game will 1 1/2 times more voice acting than the PS2 version, a new animated opening, new animated cutscenes and a new song by Shouji Meguro. The new game will also feature a new party member named Marie. Finally, Persona 4 The Golden will have a new feature that lets you call upon people from your friends list to help you out when you are about to die in a dungeon.

Persona 4 The Golden is set for a Spring 2012 release.

Next up, Arc System Works is developing a 2D arcade fighting game in set in the Persona universe. Developed by the BlazBlue team Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will have a story that takes place two months after the events of the original game and will include characters from Persona 3 and 4.

Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will be released in arcades Spring 2012 then ported over to the PS3 and Xbox 360 Summer 2012.

Finally, some very small details were released about Persona 5. Katsura Hashino is the game’s director, Shigenori Soejima is the character designer and Shouji Meguro is the composer. That’s about it.

Persona 3 and 4 hold a very special place in my gamer heart, 4 especially. I have spent something like 300-400 hours with Persona 4 and I am currently 50 hours into Persona 3. The Golden has reinforced my wanting of a Vita, the fact that Persona 5 is officially a thing is fucking awesome, and the fighting game is kinda weirding me out. But who knows, could be alright.
