Michael James Shaw Cast as Papa Midnite in Constantine

Shortly after the pilot episode for Constantine got leaked, the female lead dropped out and everything turned into a big old mess. But now things seem to be getting back on track. They’ve got another pilot in the works, have the main cast all sorted out, and have themselves one of the most important characters in the Hellblazer universe cast. So they got that going for them.

USA Today is reporting that Michael James Shaw, an actor who hasn’t really been in anything of note, has been cast as Papa Midnite, the voodoo king of New Orleans. Midnite has been around since the first Hellblazer story as an adversary of John Constantine. I haven’t read much Hellblazer so I don’t have too many thoughts on all of this.

Constantine premieres October 24th on NBC.
