Naruto Finale to be 2 Chapters Long

narutopost

Masashi Kishimoto’s monolith Naruto series is (finally) coming to an end. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s 49th issue announced that the next issue (that’s the 50th, for those keeping track) on November 10th will be a double feature finale, a total of 44 pages long, with the second half being in colour.

Kishimoto started Naruto in 1999 and has been a flagship of Shonen Jump almost since its conception and its 71st volume will be published on the 4th of the month. Personally, I think it’s well past high time that the series ended. It had a good run, and I freely admit it was one of the first manga/anime that I watched, and in fact I still read it to this day, but I am glad to see it go. Toward the end, it started to resemble that 17 year old dog you had growing up that was deaf, blind, and had arthritis but was kept alive by virtue of your little brother who was old enough to understand what that last trip to the vet’s implied but young enough to have his childish attachment outweigh his capacity to let go of an old friend. Fond memories were had, but now it’s time to go.
