Kyle MacLachlan to Return in New Twin Peaks
Back in October, it was announced that David Lynch and Mark Frost announced that they were teaming up with Showtime to make a new nine episode Twin Peaks series for the 25th anniversary of the show next year. At the time of the announcement, we weren’t sure who of the original cast would be reprising their role. Today, we have one confirmed character returning. Well, two if you count Diane.
During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Showtime president David Nevins appeared on stage alongside Kyle MacLachlan, dressed in a black suit with a damn fine cup of coffee, to announced that MacLachlan would be reprising his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in the new series. Lynch took to Twitter to make the announcement as well, tweeting this…

While on stage, MacLachlan said…
I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks. We look forward to seeing all of you there. May the forest be with you.
I cannot wait for this series. I love the original Twin Peaks, and lot of that is due to MacLachlan. It’s great to have him coming back as Cooper, and it’ll be interesting to see how this new series continues the story.
The new Twin Peaks is set to air sometime in 2016.
