Universal Eyeing John Wick Directors for Cowboy Ninja Viking with Chris Pratt

cnvpost

John Wick was a great action movie, and I’m not sure if I surprised or not that this is the first film Chad Stahelski or David Leitch have directed. They’re stunt guys, having done stunt coordination for over 150 films between the two of them, and both have a bit of second unit directing experience. So it makes some sense they’d know what they’re doing, but John Wick is still too good for me not to be surprised. Anyway, because Wick blew up the way it did, Universal is looking at them for a really dumb/awesome action movie with Chris Pratt.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures is in early talks with the duo to direct Cowboy Ninja Viking, an action movie based on an Image comic book that will star Pratt. The movie is based on the 10 issue comic series of the same name from writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo. The book follows Duncan, a man with dissociative identity disorder who is turned into a Triplet, a super-soldier with three distinct skill sets tied to three personalities. Duncan has the skills of a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.

Pratt has been attached to the project since the tail end of last year and, according to sources, has met with Stahelski and Leitch and given his approval for the team to direct the film.
