Horror Novel Shishou Series Getting Anime, Live-Action Film, TV Drama

I love me a good horror series, even if I am a total bitch. And next year, it looks like I’ll be getting a bunch of new stuff as the web novel Shishou Series is getting a bunch of adaptations.

The popular novel series, which started in 2003 on 2chan and now has over 113 stories, is being developed into a live-action movies, a TV anime, and a TV drama all in 2016. The film is being directed by Atsushi Shimizu, director of Nana et Kaoru live-action film, with a screenplay by The Big O writer Chiaki J. Konaka. The trailer above, which has both live-action and anime footage, features Mahiro Takasugi from Kamen Rider Gaim as the image character.

After the movie, we have the anime. The anime is being directed by Kinji Kishimoto (director of Queen’s Blade), with animation direction being handled by Saint Young Men’s Naoyuki Asano. The animation production will be handled by Pierrot Plus.

For those who don’t know, Shishou Series follows Uni, a first-year university student from the country who meets an older student named Shishou (Japanese for “master”). Shishou is obsessed with the occult. From there, Uni and his friends investigate urban legends and other weird things happening around the city.

I have not actually read this series before, but it sounds like something that’s right up my alley. We’ll keep you guys updated on this series as we get more info.
