IDW Announces Godzilla in Hell
In his many many decades here on Earth and in space, Godzilla has fought some pretty insane stuff. From alien made clones of himself, to prehistoric bugs looking to pork, to his own weaponized skeleton, you’d think he’s seen it all. But you’ve never seen Godzilla versus the Devil. Until now, that is.
IDW has announced that this summer they will be launching a five issue mini-series, in which the King of Monsters literally goes to Hell to fight demons! Oh my god this is so awesome. You might think this is an April Fool’s Day prank, but I can assure this is very real and very amazing. The book will start this July and have rotating creative teams, with Godzilla: The Half Century War‘s James Stokoe taking care of issue one. Stokoe said of the book…
Drawing Godzilla must be my comfort food because it feels really great to come back and work on pages with IDW again. Also, the list of amazing creators they’ve tapped for this series beyond my issue feels equally great as a fan, especially with the theme everyone gets to play with. You can’t get much bigger than Godzilla versus Hell!
Writer/artists Bob Eggleton (who was a creative consultant for the 1998 Godzilla movie) and Dave Wachter (who worked on Godzilla: Cataclysm) will work on the series in some fashion. Issue #3 will be written by Ulises Farinas and Erick Freitas, with issue #4 being written by Brandon Seifert. The artists for those issues will be announced at a later time.
Godzilla in Hell issue #1 drops this July, and I cannot wait for it.
