Star Wars Battlefront Details Revealed
The trailer above is the first trailer we’ve gotten for EA and DICE’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game, coming November 17th, 2015, to PS4, Xbone, and PC. With the trailer, we also got some details about the game, and some of them aren’t particularly great.
To get the easy one out of the way first, the game will run at 60fps on consoles.
You will also be able to customize your characters appearance, weaponry, and gear, and there will be equipment usable in game (like the bubble shield we saw in the trailer), but we don’t yet know if these are class specific. While your character is customizable, heroes and villains, like the playable Boba Fett and Darth Vader, are not customizable.
The max player cap is 40 players. There will be a variety of game modes that require smaller teams (we don’t have any details on these modes yet), so not every mode is 20v20.
The game will ship with over 8 maps across 4 different planets, including Hoth and Endor, as well as Jakku in a piece of Episode VII tie-in DLC that will be released two weeks before the movie.
There will be no story campaign in the game. Instead, we’ll be getting “crafted missions” to play solo or with friends, either via online play or offline split-screen.
In certain game modes, there will be on rails vehicle segments. One of the vehicles confirmed to be on rails is the AT-AT on Endor that we saw in the trailer. According to a DICE dev on Reddit, that AT-ATs are “the objective and they need to be going in certain directions.”
And finally, the thing that everyone seems to pissed off about the most, there will be no space battles. When asked on Twitter by a fan whether or not there would be space battles in the game, the EAStarWars account responded with this…
@either_sergio We’re focusing on air battles and dogfights that take place on the vistas of our planets rather than space.

This means that while we will be getting spaceship battles with the confines of the planet levels, there will be no space. This has led many people to believe that, since this is EA we’re talking about, the space battles will be sold later as DLC. And, like most everybody else, I can totally see them doing this.
So, that’s everything we know about Star Wars Battlefront right now. We’ll let you know when we get more.
