Dentsu Entertainment, Man of Action to Produce New Mega Man Animated Series

megamanpost

The Mega Man series is no stranger to animation as there have been a few different series and features over the years, though nothing very recent. That’s set to change now as Dentsu Entertainment is working with Man of Action Entertainment to put together a 26 episode animated series.

Dentsu Entertainment, based out of Santa Monica, California, make a business of adapting properties by combining Western storytelling with Japanese animation and style. Man of Action are known for hit animated series Ben 10, Generator Rex, and feature film Big Hero 6, so the property is definitely in skilled hands.

The release is currently targeted for 2017 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Mega Man franchise with MoA handling the writing and executive production of the series. Other details are scarce at the moment, but another tidbit I found came from Dentsu CFO Yuichi Kinoshita who says…

We are very excited about the opportunity to introduce an all-new Mega Man to loyal fans and kids.

Note the “all-new” – does that mean it will be a new Mega Man storyline entirely, or simply a new reiteration of the existing core story? This will be interesting!
