New Arrested Development Series Coming

The New Yorker Festival, which is apparently a thing, happened this past weekend. Among talking to Ralph Fiennes about what it’s like have his nose back and asking Paul Giamatti the important questions like, “Who are you?”, we got some actual news. And it’s kinda cool.

At a panel with a big chunk of the cast of the long dead Arrested Development, series creator Mitch Hurtwitz said that the show will be coming back for 10 episode limited series. After that, he also revealed that after the series we will also get the long thought dead Arrested Development movie.

Hurtwitz said that each episode of the series will focus on a different member of the Bluth family. And if you think this is some joke, Jason Bateman confirmed this on his Twitter.

“It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!”

From this we can gather that the series will premiere around the 10th anniversary of the original series’ premiere. However, we do not know where this series will air. 20th Century Fox TV, which co-produced the series with Imagine TV, has been in talks with Netflix, who have been looking to get some original programming. Showtime may also have a hand in ring for the show. The current entertainment president David Nevins helped bring the original series to life when he was running Imagine TV.

So, what do you people think of this? I was never a big fan of the original series. I watched the occasional episode when nothing else was on and it was funny. This knew thing could be pretty cool.
