Ghost Rider Guy Might Make a Twisted Metal Movie

Before they even got the numbers in on Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Sony Pictures has signed a 7-figure deal with the film’s co-director Brian Taylor to not only direct but write a film adaptation of the longest running Sony franchise Twisted Metal.

Like the games, the story will center around a world wide vehicular combat tournament run by the enigmatic Calypso. The combatants are told by Calypso that if they win they will be granted a single wish. In the games it usually turns out to be prime examples of the “Be careful what you wish for” saying or the winners just do something stupid, like the drivers of Hammerhead did in Twisted Metal 2.

I’m not sure what characters will actually be featured in the movie or what versions of them, but the source article says that both Sweet Tooth and Dollface, who I guess was really popular in Black, will be featured in the movie.

This is weird to me. The thing that I have always loved about Twisted Metal, aside from the game itself, was all the different endings. They were pretty stupid but they were my kind of stupid. The story itself was also kinda insane. It was like an interactive B-movie and that was the way I liked it. Unless they make this movie like a B-movie which, with one of the Crank guys involved is entirely possible, I don’t think I can get behind this project at all.

No one has been mentioned in terms of cast. Who would you guys like to see in the role of Sweet Tooth or Calypso? Let us know in the forums or in the comments.
