Hideo Kojima to Direct Silent Hill

Konami’s president has asked Hideo Kojima to make a Silent Hill game. His response, although not promising, was still receptive enough to blow the minds of all fans by registering his interest in the Silent Hill series. Kojima went so far as to say he’s very “envious” of the possibilities of using the FOX Engine to power the game, having it to house the power and potential of a game’s claustrophobic,  gritty, and enclosed environments. Basically we all have one thing to say to the Metal Gear director – JUST FREAKING DO IT!

“In the past I’ve mentioned Silent Hill in interviews, and as a result of that the president of Konami rung me up and said he’d like me to make the next Silent Hill,” stated the beast developer. “Honestly, I’m kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror movies, so I’m not confident I can do it. At the same time, there’s a certain type of horror that only people who are scared of can create, so maybe it’s something I can do.

“That said, I think Silent Hill has a certain atmosphere. I think it has to continue, and I’d love to help it continue, and if I can help by supervising or lending the technology of the FOX Engine, then I’d love to participate in that respect.”

This man has tried multiple times to step away from the Metal Gear solid franchise he created, only to be pulled back by the demands of the fanbase. He has made it clear that he yearns for fresh and new. We believe that him tackling Silent Hill will truly be what he’s calling for. Not only that but fans would see him taking on an established franchise. After a string of American developers taking horrible stabs at Silent Hill, Kojima would likely be more than welcomed by the series enraged fanbase. He would be the perfect director for the job. If anybody can bring psychological horror back to the series, it must be him.
