Hasbro to Make Three More Movies Based on Their Properties

Even after the monstrosities that were the Transformers trilogy and the Battleship movie, Hasbro still hasn’t learned its lesson. The famous toy company has recently signed a deal production banner Emmett/Furla Films to produce another three movies based on their toy properties over the next two years.

First, there’s a Monopoly movie. Apparently this movie has been in the works for years. It was originally set up at Universal as part of a multi-property pact the two companies signed in 2008. The film will be the first movie and will start production 2013.

Next, there’s a Hungry, Hungry Hippos movie. Yep, someone seriously looked at the game where four brightly colored hippos eat balls and thought they could get a compelling narrative out of it.

Finally, there’s an Action Man movie. This is probably the one that makes the most amount of sense. Action Man is a British version of G.I. Joe, and the G.I. Joe movies are pretty entertaining. Not very good, but entertaining.

  • I would totally go see Hungry, Hungry Hippos if they went the monster movie route.
And the Transformers trilogy alone made over ONE BILLION DOLLARS at the box office. They did learn a lesson, the lesson, however, is that these terrible movies are extremely lucrative for them.
