Ultimate Spider-Man is No More

The preceding image is on that should be familiar to comic fans. It’s an homage to one of the most iconic images in comics from Amazing Spider-Man #50. I’m actually surprised Marvel waited this long to use this image in the Ultimate Universe since they had previously used it for the 2nd printing variant cover of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #17 and in the second Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie. But they’ve finally gotten around to it, and here’s what Marvel had to say on the issue that will accompany this cover…

The story behind this image will leave readers in tears! What could possibly drive Miles Morales to abandon his role as Ultimate Comics Spider-Man? Find out this May, in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #23!

This is most likely not a story about Miles Morales giving up the costume for good. None of the stories that use this image are. Miles will probably have some crisis of faith, realize he still needs to be Spider-Man, and suit right back up before the story is over. It may take more than one issue, but it will happen.
