Saints Row 4 Coming This Summer

When THQ collapsed late last year and they had to sell of all their studios and IPs, it wasn’t clear what the new owners intended to do with them. Would the release new games in the series or put it on the back shelf? Would the studios who made them in the first place make them again? Well, at least I can rest easy because my favorite THQ IP is getting a new game from the same studio.

Deep Silver, the company that acquired Volition and the Saints Row IP in the THQ auction, announced that they will be publishing a new Saints Row game for release this summer. The game will be developed by Volition, who made the first three games, and will have ideas from the cancelled expansion pack Enter the Dominatrix.

A spokesperson for Deep Silver told Joystiq that…

That expansion was canceled and elements of it were rolled into Saints Row 4. There will be a director’s cut of Enter the Dominatrix released as DLC when SR4 comes out.

Saints Row 4 is set for release on August 20th in North America and August 23rd everywhere else for the PC and “current-gen consoles,” presumably meaning the 360 PS3. Deep Silver confirmed there will not be a Wii U version.

Now, trailer…
