Guillermo del Toro Reveals Plot Details, New Character for Justice League Dark Movie

While Warner Bros. and DC are farting around trying to get their Justice League movie off the ground, director Guillermo del Toro is working on something way more interesting with his Justice League Dark movie. I am so excited for this movie I can barely keep myself from squeeing whenever I see it pop up my news feeds. And with WonderCon having happened recently, I got a double dose of glee.

First, during the Warner Bros./Legendary Entertainment panel, del Toro talked a bit about Dark Universe (previously called Heaven Sent but it’s really just Justice League Dark). He said that he has finished the bible for the film and that he is hoping to start the screenplay soon with another writer. Who that writer is is being kept secret for the time being but del Toro hopes they will be revealed soon.

The plot of the movie will focus on a blond, British John Constantine as he goes around recruiting each character. The origin of the team will be slowly revealed over time, as well, instead of being presented up front. For example, Swamp Thing has come to terms with his situation when is recruited and my namesake, Deadman, is still searching for the man who killed him.

After the panel, Collider caught up with del Toro for an interview where he revealed a new character for film.

We have Swamp Thing, Etrigan, we have Zatanna, we have—I will spoil it—the Floronic Man.  We have stuff that those who love the darker side of the DC Universe are going to appreciate, and we’re trying to be true to the origins of the characters.

For those who don’t know, the Floronic Man, also known as Dr. Jason Woodrue, is a scientist who used a formula to make himself part man, part plant. In the comics his goal is to eradicate all animal life on the planet. He is an enemy of the Atom and Swamp Thing, and in some stories he is responsible for the creation of Poison Ivy.

This movie just keeps getting more and more awesome the more I hear about it. I cannot wait for this thing to finally come out. But I’m guessing I’m going to waiting a while, since del Toro’s next movie is going to be Crimson Peak and we’re going to have to wait for him to finish that one first.
