E3 2015: Xbone Getting Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility

backwardspost

With this new generation of consoles, backwards compatibility, the ability to play games from the previous generation’s console, was chucked out the window. Some apparent necessity of the new console’s architecture. But not so necessary, as Microsoft is doing away with it.

During their E3 press conference, Microsoft has announced that Xbox 360 games will be playable on the Xbone soon. Digital 360 games will be appearing in the Xbone store, with members of the Xbone preview program having access to some of those games now and the general public getting them this holiday season. If you own the physical copy of the game, all you have to do is put the game disc in and download a digital edition to the Xbone.
