Civil War II Getting 8th Issue

civilwar28post

Last year around this time, when Secret Wars was in full swing of being delayed for a few weeks, Marvel announced that the event miniseries would be getting an extra issue, bringing the total to nine. Now, their current event miniseries, Civil War II, which just got an issue delayed, has gotten an extra issue… Is it groundhog day?

On his TumblrCivil War II writer Brian Michael Bendis addressed a fan question about the delay of the fifth issue, worrying it was a sign of the delaying hell Secret Wars found itself in. Bendis reassured him that no such thing was happening. The reason for the delay was that David Marquez, the book’s artist and the best damn thing about the book, and his wife had a new baby. So yeah, no delay hell, just babies. Bendis went on to say that…

David has been handing in about a page a day for the last couple of weeks so we’re getting back on track.

So much so that Marvel greenlit an 8th issue for us. I came up with a better ending but needed the pages. Very grateful that they let us do our thing.

No word on if that last issue will keep the same price point as the rest of the issues, with each issue sitting around $5-6 each, but odds are it will be on the more costly side. Bendis also released a teaser page from the upcoming fifth issue.

Civil War II issue #5 is now set for release in September (I’ve seen three different release dates for it).
