Y: The Last Man on New Line’s Priorities List

For those of you out there who haven’t heard of Y: The Last Man, first slap yourself in the face for not having read this book because I love it then continue reading. Y: The Last Man follows Yorick Brown, an amateur magician and escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey Ampersand. These two are supposedly the last male mammals on the planet since anything with a Y chromosome was killed off, leaving only women alive. The series was a big hit and New Line Cinema picked up the rights to adapt the comic into a film. They got the rights in 2003.

But now it seems that New Line is finally doing something with the property. Back in March Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, who worked on the TV series Jericho, were brought on to write a script for the project. They finished it and New Line seems to like it because they have started a search for a director.

I do hope this project succeeds. Like I said, I am a big fan Y. It was a great series and hopefully New Line and whoever they bring on will be able to pull it off.

No news on any casting details or even the director candidates have been released.
