Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub Cast in TMNT as Leonardo, Splinter

turtlespost

So remember that trailer for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that came out a few weeks back? The one I said made the movie look not terrible? Well, any hope that trailer had instilled in me was immediately crushed when it was announced that a jackass and Monk had joined the cast.

Deadline is reporting that Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub have been cast in the Michael Bay-produced, Jonathan Liebesman-directed reboot of the classic comic book and cartoon characters. Knoxville will be playing Leonardo, the leader of the Turtles who wields two ninjato swords. Shalhoub will be playing Splinter, the mutated rat who raised the Turtles and taught them ninjutsu.

It was originally announced that Pete Ploszek and Danny Woodburn had been cast as Leonardo and Splinter, respectively.

This makes the movie seem even worse to me. I thought Ploszek and Woodburn were terrible choices to begin with, but Knoxville and Shalhoub are even worse. I don’t think Shalhoub is a bad actor, but I cannot imagine him as Splinter for a second. And Knoxville is just terrible.

I really fear Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now, which comes out August 8th, 2014.
