Alan Wake 2: Return?

A word from DeadMan: Holy shit! The ghost admin lives!

They say no news is good news, right? Well, what’s it mean when there is news on no news for Alan Wake 2, but news instead for another Alan Wake title? Confused? So am I…

When new information on the status of Alan Wake was released, I don’t think anyone was more excited than me. What started out as a small rumor of a sequel, would soon become more than just a rumor. A leaked resume of Althea Suarez Gata somehow found itself on the interest, listing her as the In-Game Cinematic Animator, it pretty much confirmed a sequel. Yet Remedy, developer of the Alan Wake franchise, wasn’t ready to admit or confirm Alan Wake 2‘s announcement. Head of the Alan Wake franchise development, Oskari Hakkinen, stated, “This next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2, but neither will it be DLC”. He later stated in an interview with Joystiq that we can expect more in Fall of 2011. There’s countless possibilities as to what’s really going on at Remedy:

1. It IS a sequel, aka Alan Wake 2, and they’re denying it to “surprise” us with an “official announcement”.

2. They aren’t calling it Alan Wake 2, but adding a secondary title, as in Alan Wake: Return, which is (Spoilers) hinted towards the game’s ending, therefore not really Alan Wake 2…or something…

3. Prequel…starring either Alan Wake, or even the enigmatic Thomas Zane…

4. I guess…a movie…or something…maybe…it’d be nice

5. A new Live-Action mini-series

6. A new Alan Wake book/graphic novel

7. All of the Above? …One can dream…

Ok, so that was only 7 possibilities…so it CAN be counted…but you get the idea. Remedy, while you may tease at what lies ahead for our favorite writer armed with a flashlight, I’ll end with this…you can just have all my money now…

Anyway, I’ll be checking in on the news involving anything and everything Alan Wake related, and keeping you updated. So stick around, and always carry your flashlight…
